Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aznan Hasan

Prof Dr. Aznan is currently a Non-Independent Non-Executive Director Chairman and Shariah Committee of Maybank Islamic. He is also a Professor at the IIUM Institute of Islamic Banking and Finance (IIiBF), International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM). He is the former President of the Association of Shariah Advisors in Islamic Finance Malaysia (ASAS) from 2011 to 2020. He is currently serving as the Deputy Chairman of Shariah Advisory Council (SAC) of the Securities Commission (SC) and a former member of the SAC of Bank Negara Malaysia. He is a registered Shariah advisor for the Islamic Unit Trust Schemes and Islamic Securities (Sukuk), SC, and the Chairman of the Shariah Committee of Amanah Hartanah Bumiputra.

He was appointed as the Chairman of the Group Shariah Committee of Etiqa Takaful on 1 May 2019. Dr. Aznan completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Shariah from the University of al Azhar and his Master’s degree in Shariah from Cairo University with distinction (mumtaz). He then obtained his PhD from the University of Wales, Lampeter, United Kingdom.
