Prof. Dr. Noraini Mohd Ariffin is currently a Professor in the Department of Accounting, Kulliyyah of Economics and Management Sciences, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). She is also the Deputy Dean (Academic and Internationalisation) for the Kulliyyah of Economics and Management Sciences. She holds a PhD in Accounting for Islamic Banks from University of Surrey, United Kingdom. She also holds a Master’s in Accounting (with distinction) from University of Dundee, United Kingdom and BSc (Econs) in Accounting from University of Aberystwyth, United Kingdom. Dr. Noraini teaches several subjects such as Company Accounting, Accounting for Islamic Banks, Auditing and Governance of Islamic Financial Institutions and Risk Management for Islamic Financial Institutions for undergraduate and postgraduate students. She also supervises postgraduate students mainly in the area of Shariah audit, Shariah governance, risk management and accounting for Islamic financial institutions.
Dr. Noraini is an Associate Member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA). She has published numerous articles relating to Islamic accounting and finance, mainly on risk management for Islamic banks and corporate governance of Islamic banks. Furthermore, she actively participates as a speaker in several national and international conferences. Additionally, she has conducted several public and in-house trainings on Accounting for Islamic Banks, Shariah Audit and Risk Management for Islamic Financial Institutions. She is also involved in consultancy projects to develop Islamic banking regulations in few developing countries. She is currently one of the members of the Shariah Committee for United Overseas Bank (Malaysia) Berhad (UOB), AmMetLife Takaful Berhad and Amanah Raya Berhad.
