Puan Yusaini Yusof completed her undergraduate and postgraduate degrees from the Kuliyyah of
Laws, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). She acquired the highest CGPA in the
convocation batch of 2004 for the Masters of Comparative Laws Program. She also holds a
postgraduate qualification from INCEIF under the Chartered Islamic Finance Professional where she
was among the first batch graduate of INCEIF under the BNM Bright Scholarship (featured as ‘pelajar
cemerlang’ by INCEIF in Berita Harian, August 2010). Currently, she is undergoing her PhD study at
Institute of Islamic Banking and Finance, IIUM. In addition, she has passed the relevant Securities
Commission modules that has enabled her to be registered as Compliance Officer for Fund
Management business.
She started her career as a practicing lawyer where she was tasked to focus on Islamic Finance
related matters in the field of both litigation and conveyancing. She then moved to Securities
Commission of Malaysia specialising in law reform and regulatory services for Capital Market. She
then joined Nomura Islamic Asset Management as its Compliance Officer where she handled both
regulatory and Shariah compliance. Her interest has always been in the field of advisory so from the
second-line Compliance role, she decided to move to being the Head of Shariah Advisory in Maybank
Islamic Berhad, before joining Prudential BSN Takaful Berhad (PruBSN).
She has been with PruBSN for almost 13 years now and is currently the Director and Head of Shariah
under the CEO’s Office. She has 23 years working experience in Islamic Finance and her expertise
now is in Takaful particularly family Takaful products. While focusing on Takaful, she continued to
contribute to the larger fraternity of Islamic Finance as the Assessor for Financial Accreditation
Agency (FAA) for Islamic Finance local and international Islamic Finance modules.
